Meticulous Security

We make sure that the technologies on your server are installed securely. A common problem with co-located, off-the-shelf setups is that every possible service is enabled. This gives the unfriendly intruder any number of entry points into the server. At Positive Internet, however, we tailor your platform from scratch to meet your specific requirements. As such, your server only runs exactly what it needs. We configure each piece of software meticulously so that any attacks will be met with staunch resistance. To this end, we install a barrage of sophisticated intrusion detection software. Our systems notice when people are trying malevolently to probe your server. Their route across the Internet to your machine is blocked automatically and their actions logged. We then report the incident to the manager of the prober's network and work to track down the culprit.

Multiple Backups

Positive Internet is just as fastidious about protecting your data from corruption and accidental erasure. We keep up to three levels of backup. Firstly, the RAID system on our Professional Server upwards ensures that even if a disk crashes, its automatic mirror disk will continue operating without a hitch. We will arrange to swap out the failed drive at a convenient time for you, and no data will be lost at all. Every managed server is backed up each night onto its completely separate internal drive. That way, if you delete some files or make an error, we can roll you back easily. Finally, we take weekly remote network backups of your data and configuration. In the unlikely event that your server fails completely, we will be able to reconstruct it on one of our backup machines waiting in the wings. We can also arrange off-site tape backups and can facilitate the automatic replication of databases.
